A torsion spring broke. The door suddenly feels like it weighs a few hundred pounds. Leave it closed.
One cable slipped off its drum or snapped, so one side lifts and the other doesn't. Stop using it.
Rollers jumped out after a bump from the car or a bent track. Forcing it bends more track.
Dry or worn rollers and hinges. Near the coast, rust on steel rollers speeds it up.
Usually the safety sensors are out of line, or the close limit drifted on the opener.
One damaged section can often be replaced if the maker still lists that panel style.
Find what broke first, then decide who fixes it. Sensors and remotes are small jobs. Springs and cables are not: a sectional door's weight hangs on them, not on the opener, and a wound torsion spring stores enough force to injure anyone who loses grip on the winding bar. DASMA, the door manufacturers' association, says spring replacement should only be done by a trained door systems technician. Measure the old spring, match wire size and length to the door's weight, wind it to the right number of turns, then check the door stays put halfway up. Done right, the opener barely works. Done wrong, the door flies up or crashes down.

Tell us what happened, the neighborhood, and a photo if you can. A broken spring and a stripped opener gear sound very different.
We check springs, cables, rollers, track and opener together, then give you a written price. You decide before anything gets replaced.
Worn parts are swapped, the door is rebalanced, and the track is aligned so the rollers run clean.
We run the door through full cycles and the reversal test, then show you what to watch for between visits.
Age, then salt, then the rules. Kapolei is young: the Census puts the median home at 2006, and 97% were built after 1990, so a lot of garages still run the springs, rollers and openers they came with. Those parts wear by cycles, not by calendar, and twenty years of daily trips add up. Kapolei Village's original builder rules required a two-car garage with a door on every detached house, so many doors hit that age at once. Near Ko Olina and the Ewa shoreline, sea air rusts steel hardware faster. And in the Villages of Kapolei, any exterior change a neighbor can see needs Design Review Committee approval, so a new door has to fit the rules.

From Kapolei it is under 3 miles up to Makakilo, about 6 to Ewa Beach or Waipahu, and 14 along Farrington Highway to Waianae. Late-1960s streets in old Ewa Beach and Waipahu, brand-new Hoopili, hillside Makakilo: we work on all of it.
